Further, the variation in price depends on the region and the intensity of competition there. For instance, the price decline over the past couple of years has been steep in South China and East China, as there are more numbers of manufacturers and therefore, competition, in those regions.

“To stave off the competition from local participants and gain an edge in the market, it is critical to target niche applications such as nuclear or biological clean rooms, which have stringent requirements,” noted Gnanajothi. “In due course, the competition from local participants will reduce, mainly for high-end filters, as certification requirements, national standards, legislation and regulations are becoming stringent.”

We are an air filter distributor and service provider. We are looking for a full time employee. You must be eager to work, and available to start immediately.

The job will consist of servicing HVAC filters in commercial and industrial buildings. You will also be required to work in the warehouse, helping prepare and pull orders, as well as make deliveries. You must be 21 years of age, have a clean criminal history ( we will do a background check ), and a clean driving record. You MUST have a valid drivers license. You will be driving company trucks, so you must be approved to work here. You may also be subject to random drug testing.

Hours are Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm. You may be asked to stay late or come early some days depending on our work schedule. You may also be asked to work a weekend during times when we are busy. You will get 40 hours a week. Pay starts at $11.00/hr. There will be overtime opportunities.

Atlas Copco Airpower secures ISO certification for UD+ QDT filter train

The company says that the two-in-one coalescing UD+ filter combined with the redesigned activated carbon tower QDT allows for an oil content far below 0.01 mg/m³, the maximum allowed total oil content for class 1. The filter train was tested by the TÜV Institute.

Atlas Copco says that the UD+ filter combines the reliability and performance of wrapped filters with pressure drops lower than pleated filters. This is claimed to result is a 40% energy efficiency improvement compared to traditional filters.

According to the company, the redesigned QDT activated carbon tower removes the residual oil vapours and odours from the compressed air supply. With optimization of the activated carbon material and internal flow path, the tower is claimed to improve energy efficiency by an average 65% while continuing to provide air purity, a small footprint and a long lifetime.

Clogged Filter Monitor Indicates Time to Replace HVAC Air Filters

AUSTIN, Texas — Airflow1 has announced a clogged filter monitor, called the CFM-GM, that signals the ideal time to replace HVAC air filters, which the company says can help homeowners keep a cleaner indoor environment, reduce the need for maintenance on HVAC equipment, and trim energy costs. The company currently has a Kickstarter campaign to fund the final development and production of the device.

Airflow1 notes that replacing HVAC air filters is necessary to keep equipment running at optimal efficiency, but knowing exactly when to replace them is equally important. Unfortunately, there has never been an easy or precise way to address that question. Filters become more efficient the longer they’re in place, so replacing one too soon is wasteful. But there comes a point when a filter is no longer performing at all, and the HVAC unit suffers a drop in efficiency, not to mention the accumulation of dust and dirt on the components and in the indoor environment. By some estimates, inefficient HVAC units waste up to a billion dollars in electricity each month.

Seeing this problem and finding there was no straightforward way to check for clogged air filters, engineer and product developer Mike Sweaton set out to design a solution that could adapt to most standard HVAC units. “My goals were to develop a product that was easy to install and see, cost effective for homeowners, and most of all, accurate. The reality is that many people change their filters on a set schedule, but that may not be ideal from a cost and resource-use perspective. Once in full production, I believe the CFM-GM will make a tremendous difference in our nation’s energy usage.”

The CFM-GM is said to allow homeowners to find the “sweet spot” — the moment just before a filter clogs and loses its efficiency. The device works by sensing the differential air pressure between the front and the back of the filter. Sweaton said he conducted rigorous testing and research to identify the most robust, accurate, and reliable pressure sensors.

The CFM-GM is designed to work with 1-inch width filters mounted in a wall or ceiling return grille. The device is also compatible with Supermechanical’s Twine, a wireless home monitoring system.

Energy savings, efficiency gains and reliably clean compressed air are among the benefits from Atlas Copco’s UD+ coalescing compressed air filter

The UD+ is the newest addition to Atlas Copco’s extensive line of compressed air filter solutions. This two-in-one filter combines the reliability and performance of wrapped filters with a 40% reduction in pressure drops compared with pleated filters.

“Our compressed air solutions are of the highest quality, so our air treatment solutions should be too,” Paul Clark, business line manager, industrial air, said. “With the UD+, we have launched a compressed air filter innovation that saves space, energy and money without compromising on reliability and air quality.”

Traditionally, two inline filters are needed to bring oil aerosol and solid particles in the compressed air down to acceptable levels for most applications (ISO 8573-1 Oil class 1 and 2; ISO 8573-1 Solid particle class 1). The UD+ replaces those two filters, saving space and reducing pressure drops by 40%. Extensive testing has shown that the UD+ achieves the excellent air quality of two traditional filters, thanks to the glass fibre filter media package that is wrapped around the filter. This technology is not only more efficient, it also offers increased reliability over traditional, pleated filters, which are prone to cracking.

The UD+’s reliability and performances are certified according to ISO 12500-1:2007 and ISO 8573-2:2007 standards by TÜV Rheinland. Available models range from a capacity of 9 l/s to 8000 l/s.

Mahle bumps up filter range10 June 2015

Component manufacturer Mahle has announced several additions to its Original and Knecht ranges of oil, air, fuel and cabin filters.

These include the LX3465 air filter, suitable for 1.3-litre diesel engines found in the Alfa Romeo Mito, Citroën Nemo, Fiat 500/500L/Doblo/Punto, Ford Ka, Peugeot Bipper and Vauxhall Combo.

Also new to its oil filter range is the OC978, which fits the Mercedes Citan and Renault Kangoo Megane 1.5-litre diesel units.

The full range can now be viewed on Mahle’s aftermarket app (free from the Apple App Store or from Google Play), which means workshop technicians can look up information on parts from their smartphones or tablets.

Camfil Launches the World's Most Energy-efficient HVAC Air Filter

Camfil, the world leader in air filtration technology,has launched the most energy efficient bag filter, the Hi-Flo F7 50+.  

The new Hi-Flo II is a new and enhanced version of Camfil’s award winning Hi-Flo low energy air filter. Featuring aerodynamic pockets for optimised performance, the new low energy air filters have been rated A+ by Eurovent. It saves up to £30 per year for every installed filter. FMs and Energy Managers and building owners will be able to meet the much tougher requirements for energy savings specified in Eurovent’s 2015 energy efficiency classification system for air filters.

Eurovent – The new classification for air filters 

Eurovent’s new, objective energy efficiency classification has now been implemented. Today all air filters can be graded from A+ to E. The grade A+ stands for the lowest energy consumption and E for the highest.

About the new Hi-Flo II 

The top model, M7 in filter class F7, has received the highest rating from Eurovent (A+) for its outstandingly low energy consumption. In addition to saving more energy, the filtration efficiency of the new Hi-Flo II M7 is significantly higher than the performance demands for equivalent filters in EN779:2012, the European standard for general ventilation filters.

HVAC systems heat cool and clean the air distribution within some 200,000 buildings in the UK. That’s approximately 7,300 organisations consuming 35% of the UK’s energy consumption. The Federation of European Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Associations have estimated that within the EU there is a potential annual saving of 5TWh available by switching to Low Energy Air Filters. This would equate to £500 MILLION OF ENERGY SAVINGS IN THE UK.

Micro Air Clean Air Systems recently introduced the new FORCE™ line of dust collectors, featuring the exclusive Roto-Pulse® cartridge-cleaning system.

The Roto-Pulse system is an automatic, incrementally rotating filter cleaning system that uniformly cleans 100% of the cartridges’ surfaces, 30% – 40% more filter surface than conventional reverse pulse (backflush) systems. Roto-Pulse® cleaning is quieter, typically 15 dBA quieter than reverse pulse cleaning systems and requires less compressed air, thus extending the life of the filters and compressor.

Cartridge filters are cleaned by pulsing air into a specially designed stainless steel rotating tube with pre-drilled holes. As air enters the tube it incrementally rotates a number of degrees, distributing the pulse of air across the length of the inside surface of the cartridge, dislodging clogged dirt from the cartridge.  Time between pulses and duration of each pulse are factory pre-set for optimal cleaning, but can also be adjusted for various applications or processes.  This allows for long-term savings by further reducing compressor and replacement filter cost.

Xu Zongyan was working at a large air-conditioner manufacturer when he noticed that air-quality products were becoming increasingly important to mainlanders. He left the company to launch his own business, intending at first to design only pollution monitors. But Xu, 29, soon realised that with a slight tweak of filtration technology, he could combine air-purification with monitoring into a single “smart” device. He says prototypes are ready and he hopes to begin production in a few months.

Describe your invention.

It looks like a set of headphones, but instead of earpieces, it has a tube that emits clean, treated air in front of your nose. The device comes with a sensor that monitors pollution levels – such as the amount of PM2.5 particulates and the level of oxygen in the air around you. It also features an electrostatic precipitator – a highly efficient filtration device – which sends purified air to the nose area through either a tube or a nasal pillow.

What’s a nasal pillow, and how clean is the purified air?

The nasal pillow is similar to devices used in respiratory machines that fully cover your nose. As the purified air is delivered directly into your nose, the air you breathe can have a near-zero PM2.5 level, while surrounding PM2.5 levels can be more than 300 micrograms per cubic metre. The pillow is comfortable to wear, but some users may not like it. If you use the tube, however, the air you breathe will be a mixture of purified air and ambient polluted air. But that mixture will still have a lower PM2.5 level than the air in your surroundings.

Some air purifiers come with Hepa, or high efficiency particulate arrestor, filters. Is the electrostatic precipitator as effective in catching tiny particulates?

It’s true that Hepa filters are very effective in removing particulate pollutants, but users in such heavily polluted cities as Beijing have to change the filters every two or three months and the cost is quite high. The precipitator, on the other hand, is cheap and easy to maintain. You need only to wash it to remove the dust it catches. We wanted the device to be affordable and easy to use.

The result was good enough?

I’d say tests show that its efficiency now is comparable to Hepa filters. I worked for air-conditioner manufacturer Broad Group for four years, where I marketed its products and gained a thorough understanding of electrostatic precipitators. I decided to fix its problems – such as its low efficiency and releasing of ozone – in my wearable air purifier. My purifier also features a monitoring device as well as smartphone apps that allow users to share real-time air quality information online.

How’s your progress so far?

All the technical problems have been sorted out and we have produced prototypes for testing. We’re currently trying to improve the design so that the product will be more comfortable to wear, and we’ve invited an industrial design company to finalise our designs. I hope it will be ready for mass production in two months.
