Solar Power to Street Lights in Jajpur Dist

BHUBANESWAR:  With a view to promote green and renewable energy, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) has launched a project to install solar street lights in Jajpur district.

The organisation has installed over 800 solar street lights in Dangadi and Sukinda blocks in the first phase. In Kalinganagar, where the steel major is setting up a six million tonne per annum (mtpa) integrated steel plant, about 400 solar street lights have been installed, benefiting people in 39 tribal villages. Earlier, these villages remained in darkness after nightfall due to absence of street lights.

Besides, 15 home lights were installed at various community centres located in the area. In Sukinda, more than 400 solar street lights have been installed.
