With temperatures expected to reach triple digits this summer, air conditioning will be on the top of most people’s list.
Experts explain how important it is to take care of your AC units.
Summertime in Florida can mean temperatures can often reach 100 degrees or higher, making your Air Conditioning one of the most important features of your home. And it’s important to take care of, to keep it working properly.
Anthony Bartolo of Trinity Heating and Air says having a professional inspect your system twice a year can save you from problems in the future.
He also says changing air filters once a month is important. “During this time of year, everything is breaking. The only time you think about your air conditioning is when it’s broken,” said Anthony Bartolo.
When you do change your filter, pouring a cup of white vinegar or green clean down the drain line will help break down algae and calcium deposits.
Those backups could not only stop your air conditioning from working, but could also spill water back into your home.
Bartolo says even the most efficient companies, can experience back ups in helping customers during the first few weeks of extreme heat.
So, taking your own preventive steps can help insure you won’t be stuck in the heat, waiting for help.
“The leading cause of unit breakdown is lack of routine maintenance. So pretty regularly you get a unit where it could’ve been avoided.”
Bartolo stressed repeatedly that changing your air filter and cleaning out your mainline are two of the most important things you can do to keep your system working properly. Keeping your AC units properly working during summer heat
